UCAS Discovery Day

Posted on 17th Jun 2024

Discovery is the current focus for Year 12, as they have started fully exploring their post-18 options. As part of this, students had the chance to visit the UCAS Discovery Event at the Norfolk Showground on 10 June. This gave them the opportunity to speak to representatives from 110 different universities and colleges to hear about the pathways on offer, as well as to ask questions about the individual institutions. The event also included a ‘Big Q&A’, with live talks on the apprenticeships, the UCAS process, and writing stand-out applications.

Our students found the event to be particularly helpful, with one saying, “It was really good; it got me from being unsure on what I want to now knowing exactly what I want to do”. Similarly, another student said, “It was helpful speaking to the people at the different universities and getting an understanding of what they are like in terms of courses and the cities.”

Year 12 are now preparing for their work experience placements at the start of July, ahead of our annual Futures Week, which will give students further insights into the options available to them; universities, jobs, apprenticeships, and gap years. It is also an opportunity to help them enhance their employability skills. The coming weeks are therefore a busy, but fun, time for Year 12 and should lead them into the summer feeling better informed and more confident about their future pathways.
