Attleborough Academy Ski Trip 2023

Posted on 23rd Feb 2023

During February half term, a group of 37 pupils and 4 staff embarked on a 24-hour coach journey to the skiing resort of Ponte Di Legno, Italy, for the Academy’s sixth Ski Trip. The trip was a long time in the planning due to the disruption to school trips as a result of the Covid pandemic.

The skiers and snowboarders made great progress over the course of the week, with the beginner groups attempting red runs and the more advanced groups confidently tackling the blacks of the glacier by the end of the week. The week was full of bright blue skies, sunshine and warm weather and, believe it or not, very little snow – no fresh snow that is.

It was a very tiring week, action packed from the time pupils woke until the minute they fell asleep. Not only were they skiing for six hours a day but there was also an après ski programme in place in the evening where pupils went bum boarding, tasted the traditional pizzas and ice-creams and had the opportunity to shop in the village of Ponte Di Legno.

Mr Seymour, Ski Trip Leader commented, ‘The pupils, as usual, did us proud and made it a very enjoyable trip for all involved. Everyone was superbly behaved and a real asset to the Academy, with members of the public commenting on what a lovely bunch of students we have. I am extremely proud of everyone who came along’.

‘I wish to thank all those who made the trip such a success, particularly Mrs Tyrer, Mr Frost, Mr Griffiths and administration staff Mrs Briggs and Mrs Allen’.

Matthew, Year 10 simply had this to say about the trip, ‘Best week of my life’.

Anyone who fancies having a go, keep an eye out for a letter going out soon for the February 2024 half term trip. It is a perfect opportunity to come along, learn this wonderful sport and make many new friends and memories along the way.
