Holocaust Education Trust Visit

Posted on 11th Mar 2024

Moira Years 10, 12 and 13 were visited today by two representatives from the Holocaust Education Trust (HET). Peter and Moira Hart are second generation speakers who generously gave up their time to visit us and relate the story of Peter’s mother Kitty Hart-Moxon OBE. Kitty’s story is one of tremendous courage during horrific circumstances; spanning time in the Lublin ghetto, Auschwitz and the death marches.

Our students were entranced by the moving story of Kitty and her mother who survived all of this to make a new life in Britain. Five of our students also contributed to a question and answer session with thought provoking and insightful questions; demonstrating the outward looking and mature attitude of our students to events such as these. The visit was part of the Holocaust Educational Trust's extensive all year round Outreach Programme, with the aim of educating students from across the UK about the dangers of prejudice and racism and where this can ultimately lead.

At the end of the session one student told me it was a really interesting experience and they enjoyed it.  Another said that it was a ‘great story’ to have a chance to hear. We extend our thanks once again to Peter and Moira for sharing their family story with us.
