Duke of Edinburgh Award Training Weekend

Posted on 31st Mar 2025

Students from Years 9 and 10 braved what was possibly the coldest weekend of the year for their first night camping in their DofE tents!

During the course of the weekend, students were able to practise their camp-craft skills, including erecting their tents and using different types of stove to prepare hot food and drink. They were also able to put into practice their navigation skills, learned during after-school training sessions.

Although the temperature overnight was incredibly challenging, spirits weren't dampened and the following day boasted glorious sunshine, although it was still a little chilly. All students took part in at least one navigation exercise and hike, developing their skills and learning from their accompanying staff mentor.

Praise must go to the students for their fortitude and good humour throughout the weekend and their dedication
