Ski Trip
Posted on 4th Mar 2025During the February half-term, a group of 32 pupils and 4 staff members set off on an action-packed week of adventure to the breath-taking ski resort of Ponte Di Legno in Italy, marking the Academy's 9th Ski Trip!
The week was packed with excitement from roll call in the morning until lights out in the evening. Pupils skied for six hours a day, pushing their limits, learning new skills and having a blast while doing it, but the fun didn’t stop there! After hitting the slopes, the après-ski programme kept the energy high. Pupils had the chance to try bum boarding, savour traditional Italian pizzas and gelato and explore the charming village of Ponte Di Legno. It was an action-packed week that blended sports, culture and adventure.
Skiers and snowboarders of all levels made impressive progress over the week, with the beginner groups bravely tackling their first red runs, while the more experienced skiers found themselves confidently navigating the challenging black slopes of Europe’s largest glacier. The weather was nothing short of perfect – blue skies, glorious sunshine and mild temperatures, creating ideal conditions on the slopes.
Mr. Seymour, the Ski Trip Leader, couldn't have been more complimentary of the group. "The pupils did us proud, as always," he said. "They made the trip a fantastic experience for everyone involved. Their behaviour was exemplary, with many members of the public commenting on how polite and respectful our students are. I couldn’t have asked for a better group to represent the Academy."
He also expressed his gratitude to those who made the trip possible: "A huge thank you to Mrs. Biggs, Mrs. Marsh, Mr. Griffiths, and our amazing administrative staff, Mrs. Briggs and Mrs. Moore, for all their hard work behind the scenes."
For Lily, a Year 11 student, the trip left an unforgettable impression: "The ski trip opened my eyes to a new sport that I can enjoy with my family. The best week I have spent with the school!”
